During my ig virtual opening @coreyhelfordgallery, a popular question was where I get my inspiration for my art? 🧐

I’m influenced by changes in society and I make works from my thoughts about them. Researching and thinking about modern issues is an important part of my art making. My painting "Virtual Worship" depicting the goddess Amabie is inspired by these issues. Since the pandemic began, her image has become popular in Japan. She is a legendary Japanese mermaid🧜‍♀️ with three legs, who emerges from the sea and prophesies an epidemic. I've combined the image of Amabie with a magical girl. She depicts the modern day belief system and hope that anything can be solved with the help of God.
